Butterfly Gardening Tips

You can have a butterfly garden in any size yard- even in a container garden on your patio!  Make sure you have a pesticide free plant assortment that contains a host plant (for the caterpillars to eat) and a nectar source (butterfly food).  Many plants are both a food and a nectar source.
A few suggestions for host plants include milkweed, parsley, dill, and corkystem passionvine. Some options for nectar plants are blanket flower, asters, and beebalm.
Plant these plants in a sunny area and enjoy the butterflies and caterpillars to come! Most of the plants that are good for butterflies are also vital for all our pollinators including honey bees and our native bees.  By helping pollinators you are helping everyone.
